The Mystique of Metaphysics, Aristotle to Frankfurt

Metaphysics pervades the sentient world. Almost no-one knows what the word means and philosophers find it “hard to define.” In 1936, A. J. Ayer, in his seminal “Language, Truth and Logic,” defined the word as “nonsense.” This apparent attack upon the philosopher’s realm was met with alarm. To calm the waters, another philosopher, R. G. Collingwood suggested another definition for the word: “absolute presuppositions.” This is of course simply beliefs and prejudices. The book exposes the many ways this concept infects our lives and generates physical impossibilites in the minds and ideas of scientists ISBN: 978-0-9908931-7-2
